Bill Maher plays The Louisville Palace Dec. 5

Published: Oct 10, 2009

Iconoclastic late-night talk show host Bill Maher brings his hilarious cutting-edge takes on politics, religion and all other topics polite society deems off limits to the Louisville Palace on Dec. 5.

Maher hosts the debate show Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, as he has since 2003. Before that, Maher hosted Politically Incorrect, first on the Comedy Central network and then on ABC. During that time, Maher racked up 21 Emmy Award nominations. Maher ranks 38th on Comedy Central's 100 greatest stand-ups for all time.

The acid-tongued Maher takes no prisoners on his television show, lampooning politicians, bureaucrats, greedy corporate fatcats and politically correct speech.

In addition to his work on television, the agnostic Maher produced the 2008 documentary Religulous, which mercilessly skewers various religious authorities. Religulous has become the seventh highest-grossing documentary ever. Since 2005, he has also been blogging on The Huffington Post. He has also written five books: True Story: A Novel (1994); Does Anybody Have a Problem with That? Politically Incorrect’s Greatest Hits (1996); When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden: What the Government Should Be Telling Us to Help Fight the War on Terrorism (2003); Keep the Statue of Liberty Closed: The New Rules (2004) and New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer (2005).

Bill Maher began performing stand-up comedy in 1979.

Tickets are $35.50, $55.50 and $67.50. The Louisville Palace's website offers ticket buyers a chance to see the view from their seat before they buy. You can buy tickets online, by calling (877) 598-8698 or by visiting the Louisville Box Office from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and two hours before any scheduled event.
