Rocky's Italian Grill: still the place for pizza and more

For the past 30 years, Southern Indiana's favorite haunt for pizza and Italian eats has been Rocky's.

Dubbed Rocky's Sub Pub when it opened in 1977, the restaurant is now known as Rocky's Italian Grill. But the seminola for the pasta is still imported, the ingredients are still fresh and crisp, the bread is still baked hot and fresh, and the pizza is still made from an old family recipe.

Pizza first made Rocky's famous, and Rocky's Italian Grill has more varieties than ever. Whether it's a plain cheese pizza; that carnivore's delight, the Meat Moltissimo; or the downright exotic (the Four Cheese Prosciutto, the Buffalo Chicken or several others), they're sure to have what you're craving. And Rocky's still making delicious subs, just as they did when they opened 30 years ago.

Rocky's Italian Grill also has more sophisticated fare, as well, these days. The affordable menu boasts Italian traditional standbys, such as veal or chicken parmagiana, Pasta Carbonara and shrimp or chicken scampi. Yet, the menu also lists more novel dishes, such as Tuscan Pork Chops ($14.99), which are two half-pound center-cut pork chops grilled with prosciutto ham and slathered in a mushroom demi glaze.

Lunch portions are available from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patrons can enjoy Rocky's bottomless soup, salad and bread lunch special for just $5.99. And Rocky's has an extensive Carry-Out Menu, as well.

Rocky's has always been a family restaurant, and that traditional continues, too. The kids' menu -- called Bambino Lista in Italian -- allows youngsters to eat pizzaroni and fries, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders and fries, or pasta with meatballs for a mere $3.49, including soft drink! On Tuesday, kids eat for 99 cents, and Rocky's offers drinks specials.

And those with a sweet tooth can cap the evening off with Tiramisu ($4.99), a flaky cannoli ($3.79) or other dessert. Rocky's also has a full-service bar. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
