Help share your alternative energy knowledge with the world at solarpneumatichybrid.com.
Solar Pneumatic Hybrid hopes to provide information on helping people become energy independent through the use of roof top photovoltaics and wind turbines. First the individual installs solar panels and a grid tie box so that they can sell the watts they don't use to the electric company or exchange them for credits to use it night. Then they can add batteries so they can store extra power instead of sending it to the grid. Then they can add more panels, then more batteries, then more wind power, and so on and so fourth until the can power their house in definitely without taking any power from the grid. Once a household reaches that level of self suffience they can then buy electric cars and motorcycles so that not only have they eleminated their dependence on coal and natural gas for their house, but then they eleminate their dependence on fossil fuels for their transportation needs. Each house hold should expand their solar and wind capacity so that after meeting all of their home and transportation needs, they have some left over to send to the grid. In some cities or states, this translates into revenue, in other cities where electric companies don't buy electricity from customers, one should send extra power after charging batteries anyways to reduce the use of coal in your city. Pneumatic energy storage systems are less efficient than chemical batteries but they have the potential to be cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and longer laster than their battery counter parts. I envision houses with silos full of compressed air to store excess energy from solar and wind that can then be used to drive pneumatic cars or to run a generator at night to power the house.
