It’s not easy to tell the story of a state as diverse and wide ranging as Kentucky, with its mix of big-city life and country living spread from the eastern reaches of the Appalachians to the Mississippi flood plains of the west, but KentuckyShow! is able to do it in 32 minutes. KentuckyShow!, a large-screen multi-media experience narrated by Ashley Judd, offers a rapid-fire tour of the Bluegrass in its own theater on Main Street in the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Today’s production had its roots in the original KentuckyShow, which opened in 1984 as a 52-minute multi-media production using 40 slide projectors and 4,000 slides.
It ran for six years in downtown Louisville, then moved to Bardstown, KY, where it continued for several more years.
An updated show featuring high-definition video opened in September 2008 at the Kentucky Center and has since been seen by people from all 50 states and 33 countries.
The show runs on the hour, Tuesday–Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $7; group rates are available. Tickets are sold before each showing at the Kentucky Center box office.
