Lake Jericho: Calm Waters, Great Fishing
Lake Jericho Recreational Camping Area in Henry County offers a 137-acre lake with quiet, calm waters, camping, shelters with restrooms, outdoor picnic areas with grills and more, about 35 miles from Louisville and 75 miles from Cincinnati. Thanks to Lake Jericho's no-wake speed limit, you can actually settle down for peaceful, productive fishing, safe from the parades of noisy, water-churning, high-speed boats that plague many lakes.
You can find crappie, largemouth bass, catfish and bluegill in Lake Jericho. All-sized boats are welcome, but there are also plenty of easily accessible bank-fishing areas. You can also rent 14-foot john boats with oars — but bring your own motor if you don’t like to row. Life-preservers are available on request.
If outdoor living is the life for you, Lake Jericho has you covered, with a camping season that runs from April through October. RV and tent campsites are available nightly, weekly or monthly, and 70 RV sites offer electric and water hookups. Sewer hookups and a dumping station are also available. Camping is first come, first served.
Daily admission to the lake and recreational area is $2 for adults, $1 for ages 6–11 and free for kids under 6. An annual membership costs $40 for residents of Henry and Trimble counties, $50 for others.
Tent camping costs $16 a night, $95 a week or $225 a month. RV camping for two people is $19 a night, $115 a week and $295 a month. Adding sewer hooks raises the RV fees to $20 a night, $120 a week and $325 a month.
It costs $4 to launch your own boat. Rental boats — no motor included — are $15. Life preservers are $1. Bait (minnows and worms) are available at the gate house, as well as snacks, ice and soft drinks. Shelters can be reserved, but otherwise are available first come, first served.
