2011 Derby Festival Events: April 20-23

If you like sports, you won't want to miss the 2011 Derby Festival events going on April 20-23. The Kentucky Derby Festival will keep you busy with golf, basketball, and fitness and physique events. And if you're more interested in exercising your taste buds, Wednesday's Taste of Derby Festival is right up your alley.

Wednesday, April 20:

Taste of Derby Festival
Sample food and drinks from more than 60 local restaurants, bourbon distilleries and beverage companies. Activities include a Bloody Mary contest and silent auction.
- 5:30-8:30 p.m.
- Louisville Slugger Field (401 E. Main Street)
- $75 per person ($50 is tax deductible – 100% of net proceeds benefit Dare to Care.)

Thursday, April 21:

Night of the Future Stars
Players from April 22's Derby Festival Basketball Classic participate in events including a Slam Dunk contest, 2-on-2 contests and a three-point shootout. The event also features an autograph-signing contest and is broadcast live on B96.5 FM.

- Bellarmine University, Knights Hall (2001 Newburg Road)
- Free with Basketball Classic ticket ($16 – available in advance and also will be sold at event.)

Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, May 1:

Fifth Third Bank Derby Festival $1 Million Hole In One Golf Contest
Take a shot at turning $1 into $1 million. On Thursday, April 21, Metro Parks golf pros will be on hand from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. to give tips and answer questions.
- April 21-23 and 25-30: 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. (closed April 24); May 1: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Seneca Golf Course driving range (2300 Pee Wee Reese Road)
- $1 per golf ball – get 5 free balls with purchase of a $5 Pegasus Pin at the event.

Friday, April 22:

Derby Festival Basketball Classic presented by papajohns.com
Watch some of the top prep basketball players in the country in action. The event is broadcast live on 99.7 WDJX-FM.
- 7 p.m.
- KFC Yum! Center (1 Arena Plaza)
- $16 – purchase at arena box office or via TicketMaster.

Saturday, April 23:

NPC Fitness and Physique Championship
Also called the Kentucky Muscle 2011 NPC Fitness, Figure, Bikini and Bodybuilding Championship, this event is a new entry in the Derby Festival roster. Men and women will compete in divisions ranging from novice to master in this national qualifying event. 
- Pre-judging: 11:30 a.m.; Finals: 6 p.m.
- Louisville Memorial Auditorium (970 South 4th Street)
- $15 for pre-judging tickets; $25 for finals tickets; $30 for VIP tickets.
