From pop-rock to '80s metal to country, the 2011 Kentucky State Fair concerts will bring to Louisville a mix of Billboard-toppers and Grammy Award-winners.
The main stage concert series will kick off with five-time Grammy-winning Lady Antebellum on Thursday, August 18, with special guest Lee Brice. The Kentucky State Fair will be held August 18-28 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
Def Leppard, kings of the '70s and '80s hard-rock/metal scene, will hit the stage shortly after its new live album, Mirrorball, debuts over the summer. Playing with Def Leppard on Friday, August 19, will be Heart, another '80s superstar.
Then the lineup goes country on Saturday, Aug. 20, with Jason Aldean, who has topped the Billboard country charts and been named the top male country artist and top independent artist by Billboard. Aldean will be joined by Chris Young and Thompson Square. Young also played at the Kentucky State Fair last year.
Closing out the concert series will be Maroon 5 and Train on Sunday, Aug. 28. The two pop-rock groups have had several No. 1 songs, including Train's "Hey Soul Sister" and Maroon 5's Misery.
Tickets for all concerts will go on sale April 18. Prices have been announced for the Aldean show ($30/$47) and the Train/Maroon 5 show ($40/$50), but not the other two concerts.
Tickets include fair admission, which increases this year for the first time since 2007. The $2 price increase brings admission to $10 for adults and $6 for children. Discounted tickets will be available on the fair's website and at area Kroger stores.
