Archaeology Days at the Falls of the Ohio State Park promises a full day of fun on Sept. 5, including making your own pottery, throwing prehistoric darts and speaking with professional archaeologists.
The Falls of the Ohio Archaeological Society is hosting the day-long hands-on event. You can learn the functions of prehistoric and historical artifacts by using them yourself, you can make your own pottery vessel to take home, throw prehistoric darts with an atlatl (spear-throwing tool), and participate in a mock archaeological dig.
Got an ancient artifact and don't know what it is or what it's for? Archaeology Days includes a historic version of Antiques Roadshow. Visitors can bring in their prehistoric and historical artifacts, and experts will identify them.
You can also watch flintnappers make prehistoric stone tools, learn how archaeological digs are created or question professional archaeologists.
Visitors can discover how they can become involved in local archaeology.
