Charity motorcycle rides are springing up all over Louisville, so take the pontoon floats off that two-wheeled beauty and get out for some magnificent local rides for charity as the weather clears and the fun awaits.
Ben Whitaker hasn't been a biker for very long, but he learned very quickly after buying his first motorcycle that the local biker scene isn't at all what decades of media have presented bikers to be. His first experience was at a Two-Lane Liquors bike night, where he spoke to club members and learned the ropes. He found that these were big-hearted people of all walks of life, who were committed to one another and moved in forces to support many causes. That's why he and his business partner, Lin Sinnocle, started XXLbiker.com, in part to keep the local biker community up-to-date on events, and to promote an accurate image of motorcycle enthusiasts.
Enthusiast and national director of the Ride for CHANGE-Ride for HOPE said that bikers are a powerful, supportive community who make excellent advocates for youth because of the value they take in freedom and strength, and so he promotes charitable rides all over the nation to expand awareness. The Ride for CHANGE-Ride for hope will launch its first event in Louisville from Bluegrass Harley Davidson at 11 a.m. on Derby Day and ends at the Muhammad Ali Center.
