
The weekend before the Kentucky Derby, the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair will celebrate its 40th year with all the requisite art, artists, food, drink and music. Held on tree-lined Cherokee Parkway between Willow Avenue and Cherokee Road, the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair fwill eature the work of more than 200 artists.
A juried, volunteer-staffed neighborhood art fair, the two-day event Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., both days.
This year’s participants include art fair veterans as well as new local and regional artists, according to the Cherokee Triangle Association, which sponsors the event. Patrons can view and purchase original art and often meet and talk with the artists.
In addition to art, fairgoers can purchase a variety of plants and herbs at the plant booth, while children will enjoy the art activities tent.
On Saturday, No Tools Loaned will play bluegrass music from 1 to 3 p.m. Although art booths close at 6 p.m., music and food service will continue until 8 p.m. Cosa Seria, featuring salsa music, will take the stage from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Featured performers on Sunday will include King Sonic (blues/rock/rockabilly) from 1 to 3 p.m. and The Jaywalkers (blues/R&B/rock) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

HelloLouisville Tips: For the safety of patrons, organizers prohibit pets, skateboarding, skating, rollerblading and biking within the art fair confines. Beginning Friday, April 29, streets and areas immediately surrounding the art fair will be closed to through traffic, reopening at 8 p.m. Sunday evening after shutdown and clean-up.
