Derby Dinner Playhouse Brings Plaid Tidings of Great Joy for the Holidays!
The Derby Dinner Playhouse is bringing back the hilarious quartet from “Forever Plaid” for a rousing holiday romp: Plaid Tidings. Get the girlfriends together for a night out on the town, or grab your sweetie for a date night of laughter, and head over to Clarksville for the famed dinner theater's holiday production.
The show is a continuation of the critically acclaimed Forever Plaid, an off-Broadway musical comedy that is now performed internationally. The original show brought to life The Plaids – Frankie, Jinx, Sparky and Smudge – a harmonious 1950s styled quartet of high school buddies. Their lifelong dream to record an album came to an end when their car crashed on the way to see the Beatles’ fated performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. But heaven provides them with just the opportunity they were waiting for.
Flash forward a few years to Plaid Tidings, and the group, now residing in heaven, receives a phone call from their idol, Rosemary Clooney. She orders them back to earth to perform for a new holiday episode of The Ed Sullivan Show. It was clearly heaven-sent, at least if you’re into holiday nostalgia, because Ed Sullivan’s other guests include the Rockettes, Alvin & the Chipmunks and the Vienna Boys Choir.
The Derby Dinner Playhouse pulls this comical musical off with its usual skill and talent. Served up along with the entertainment is a delicious buffet including a full salad bar, fresh vegetable dishes, several meat selections and hot buttered rolls along with a variety of desserts and a full bar.
The Derby Dinner Playhouse will perform Plaid Tidings from Nov. 16 through New Year’s Eve, for both matinee and evening shows. It’s recommended to buy tickets early, as many of the holiday shows are expected to sell out.
