The deadline to sign your team up for the Derby Festival Volleyball Classic is March 29, 2011. This annual competition is the largest outdoor volleyball tournament in the country, and this year's single-day tournaments span two weekends during the Kentucky Derby Festival. The Derby Festival Volleyball Classic has two venues: Baxter Jacks for outdoor sand and Seneca Park, near the tennis courts, for the grass division.
It doesn't matter what level of player you are, the Derby Festival Volleyball Classic has different competition categories. Two days of tournaments at Baxter Jacks run April 16 and April 17, 2011, for two-player teams (doubles). On April 30, Baxter Jacks will hold a proficient-level (C) co-ed six-player tournament, and on May 1, a co-ed C doubles tournament.
Also on April 30 and May 1, Seneca Park will host 21 tournaments on grass. Most of these are six-player competitions with levels ranging from beginner classes (D) to advanced women's and men's B divisions. April 30 features men's and women's tournaments, with the exception of a C-level tournament for company teams. May 1 is mostly co-ed, with the exception of advanced-level three-player (trips) tournaments. Four-player tournaments are also available.
Visit the Baxter Jacks website for a complete schedule and information on how to sign up.
