Like being at Woodstock, being at the very the very first HullabaLOU will someday be a badge of honor. You’ll want to be able to say you were there when 65 bands take to five stages over three days from Friday, July 23, to Sunday, July 25, at historic Churchill Downs, just south of downtown Louisville.
The bands range from classic rock to country to bluegrass to urban contemporary; the artists include household names and up-and-coming talent. Those scheduled include Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthews Band, Kenny Chesney, the Black Crowes, the Steve Miller Band, the B-52s, Ricky Skaggs, the Doobie Brothers, Al Green, Louisville native Joan Osborne, Kansas, the O’Jays, Dwight Yoakam, Steppenwolf, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Huey Lewis and the News, Taj Mahal and many more.
You can check out the entire line-up here. Wnat to know when your favorite band takes to the stage? You can check the online Schedule, which even has a Facebook app that lets you coordinate with all of your friends!
There are three types of seating: general admission, which provides casual lawn seating; reserved seating, which gives you not just your own seat but access to exclusive concessions, restrooms and merchandise areas; and VIP seating, which guarantees you a seat in the first 30 rows and gives you access to hospitality areas adjacent to three of the stages — the HullabaLOU, Fleur de Lis and Kroger stages — and to the VIP lounge that will be located in Churchill Downs’ infield. (You can learn more about the VIP passes here.)
General admission tickets begin at $75 per day or $200 for all three days. Reserved seating starts at $95 per day, with preferred seats and VIP seating going much higher. You can buy tickets online or by calling (800) 745–3000. You can view a seating chart here and a festival map here. Gates open at 1 p.m. each day and close at 11 p.m.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation® seeks to gather and 350 volunteers to help with fulfilling the wishes of desperately ill children to meet with their favorite musical artists. Each volunteer gets a HullabaLOU uniform T-shirt, free parking with shuttle service, and a volunteer credential allowing access to the festival for each shift, as well as general admission access during off-duty hours.
You can download a volunteer application here and mail it to the specified address. All volunteers must commit to 12 hours of volunteering over three shifts and will be subject to a background check. For more information, click here.
HelloMetro Tip: Lawn seating for three of the stages — the Fleur de Lis, Kroger, Budweiser and Bluegrass stages — are on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to come early!
