Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G will bring his smooth-jazz sound to French Lick Resort in Southern Indiana Aug. 22.
Kenny G's latest release, Forever in Love: The Best of Kenny G, went on sale this spring. He has released two dozen albums, including collaborations with artists as varied as Andrea Bocelli, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Céline Dion and Steve Miller of Steve Miller Band fame.
Kenny G usually performs on a soprano sax. His sixth studio album, Breathless, ranks as the No. 1 best-selling instrumental album ever, with 15 million copies sold. Seven of Kenny G's 12 studio albums have gone at least platinum. Kenny G's song "Going Home" is so popular in China that the public transit systems in Shanghai and Tianjin play the song when trains approach the terminus station!
The saxophonist also earned a spot in the Guiness World Book of Records in 1997 by holding an E-flat for nearly 46 minutes — the longest note ever recorded on a sax.
The French Lick Resort is just a little more than an hour from downtown Louisville. Kenny G's concert will be in the Windsor Ballroom, which is on the second floor of the event center building attached to the French Lick Springs Hotel.
