The Loretta Lynn Louisville concert will bring country music legend Loretta Lynn's Grammy Award-winning sound to the Palace Theatre on January 28, 2011. Tickets for the Loretta Lynn Louisville concert are priced at $38, $45 and $58.
Lynn’s music career began a half-century ago when she released her debut single, “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl,” in 1960. Her music extolled, lamented and observed the life of the rural Southern woman: “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind),” “You’re Lookin’ at Country,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Rated X,” “Fist City,” “You’ve Just Stepped In (From Steppin’ Out on Me),” “Your Squaw Is on the Warpath,” “Woman of the World (Leave My World Alone),” “One’s on the Way,” “She’s Got You,” “Naked in the Rain” and, of course, “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Some of her songs dealt so forthrightly with sexuality ("The Pill") that they were banned from the radio.
Lynn’s 1976 autobiography, Coal Miner’s Daughter, recounted her life growing up poor in Butcher Hollow, Ky., and her struggles after she had found success with her music. It was was made into a movie released in 1980 starring Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones. Spacek won an Oscar for best actress for her portrayal.
Lynn has won four Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards and 10 Academy of Country Music Awards. She received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2003 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in January 2010.
