If Old Man Winter’s got you down, make plans to attend the 54th Annual Louisville Boat and RV Show, January 26-30, 2011. Walking through the cavernous Kentucky Exposition Center for the Louisville Boat and RV Show, surrounded by boats, RVs, personal watercraft, 4-wheelers and campers, it’s easy to pretend that summer is already here and you’re headed to the lake for the weekend.
“The Louisville Boat, RV and Sport Show provides visitors with a one-stop shop for boats, RVs and accessories to suit any lifestyle and budget,” said Kim Muncy, show manager. “The region’s top dealers will be under one roof offering some of the best deals of the year, plus we have an extensive line up of seminars and fun activities for the whole family.”
While the highlight of the show is checking out the latest models and newest technology on the big toys, there’s more to the show than just boats and RVs. There are exhibits such as the Bass Pro Shops King of Bucks Truck, a traveling display with more than 200 of the world’s largest trophy deer; Odie Sudbeck’s Awesome Antler Display, showing two dozen world-class mounts (including the whitetail with the largest recorded antlers); and a challenging virtual hunting game.
Learn new techniques through demonstrations and seminars featuring professional anglers and hosts of popular hunting TV shows. View lures and baits from the perspective of the fish during casting demonstrations by Chuck Devereaux in a 5,000-gallon aquarium stocked with native Kentucky fish.
And there will be plenty to entertain the kids, including a catch-and-release trout pond for young anglers, plus casting instructions and minnow races. SpongeBob SquarePants will make an appearance January 29-30, 2011.
Attendees will be able to purchase their 2011 fishing, hunting and sportsmen’s licenses and elk permits.
An area that's sure to be buzzing this year: the Affordability Pavilion, showcasing boats for the budget-conscious and finance plans.
HelloLouisville Tip: SpongeBob SquarePants will be in the house January 29-30, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
