Louisville Father’s Day 2011: Ideas for Fun with Dad

Looking for things to do with Dad for Louisville Father’s Day 2011? Take him out to the ball game, escape from the hustle and bustle at a local campground, or pamper him with a salon package to make Louisville Father’s Day 2011 a memorable occasion. Following are some ideas geared toward dads of every age and interest:

Louisville South KOA
Celebrate Father’s Day all weekend at Louisville South KOA, where the entire family can enjoy fishing, swimming, hiking, mini-golf and other games. Fathers receive a complimentary breakfast, courtesy of KOA. Located 15 miles south of Louisville in Shepherdsville, KOA offers fun in the great outdoors with the convenience of being close to the city.

Slugger Field
Nostalgic dads will love attending the Louisville Bats v. Toledo Mud Hens game for Father’s Day. There’s not a bad seat in the house at Slugger Field, which accommodates up to 13,000 fans. The retro-classic ballpark was named after the popular Louisville Slugger baseball bat. A “Grand Slam” ticket, which sells for $18 to $21, includes admission to the game, a Bats hat, a program and a hot dog and soft drink.

Louisville Slugger Museum
Along the historic Museum Row on Main Street, Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory is home to the most famous baseball bat in the world and the official bat of Major League Baseball. The museum offers tours every 20 minutes and presents a miniature souvenir bat to every visitor.

Fritz's for Men
If dad needs some special attention, get him a gift package at Fritz's for Men, the only salon and spa in Louisville dedicated to serving men. Located in the Forum Center near the intersection of Hurstbourne Parkway and Shelbyville Road, Fritz's stylists are specialists in men's hair care. The spa also offers massage, skin care, hand and foot treatments and hair removal services.

Belle of Louisville
Take Dad on a leisurely 2-hour cruise down the Ohio River on a historic paddlewheel steamboat with Belle of Louisville’s Father’s Day Bluegrass Cruise. While enjoying the sights along the river, cruisers listen and/or dance to the sounds of a lively bluegrass band. Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for ages 3 to 12 for the cruise only. With the buffet lunch, tickets are $34 for adults and $20 for ages 3 to 12.
