There's no time like spring to enjoy the green beauty of Mother Earth. And there's no better place than the Louisville Zoo for the party.
The zoo and E.ON U.S., the parent company of Louisville Gas & Electric Co. and Kentucky Utilities Co., will present "Party for the Planet: A Month-long Celebration of the Earth" throughout April.
Every weekend will feature activities such as an Easter egg hunt, special animal presentations and a chance to take home your very own "zoo poopy."
Here's a brief rundown of the schedule:
Saturday, April 3 – Special Party for the Planet Event (1-4 p.m.): Visit with representatives of the Louisville Nature Center from 1-4 p.m. to learn about the center's camps, classes and programs. You'll also get the chance to buy their popular rain barrels for $60 — a $10 dollar discount off the regular price.
Sunday, April 4 - Eggstravaganza featuring the Easter Bunny (11a.m.-4 p.m.) Celebrate Easter with some of the zoo's "EGGstraordinary" egg-laying animals and take part in a scavenger hunt. (Be sure to pick up your hunt sheet as you enter the Zoo.) The Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet visitors in Zoo Vision, so bring your cameras for family photos.
Saturday, April 10 – Climate Change Activities (11a.m.-4 p.m.) The Louisville Science Center will host activities that explore the environmental implications of climate change for the Ohio River Valley.
