The new Broadway musical recounting the remarkable life of legendary singer-songwriter Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire, comes to Derby Dinner Playhouse from Aug. 17 to Sept. 26.
Using more than 30 of Cash’s signature songs — including “I Walk The Line,” “I've Been Everywhere,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?”, “Jackson” and even “A Boy Named Sue” — the jukebox musical revue relates stories of passion, recklessness, humor and redemption. While not a standard biography of Cash, like Walk the Line, Ring of Fire follows the contours of Cash’s life, while resonating with the lives of every couple as they go through the years. You won’t want to miss this tune-filled foot-stompin’ celebration of the legendary Man in Black!
Tickets cost $33 to $42, depending on day and time. Tickets are available online or by calling (812) 288–8281.
The cast includes Melissa Combs, Michelle Johnson, Sandra Rivera, Kiersten Vorheis, Kevin Crain, Steve Copps, Scott Anthony and Don Hart. Ring of Fire was created by Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by William Meade. The Derby Dinner production is directed by Bekki Jo Schneider with choreography by Barbara F. Cullen and musical direction by Scott Bradley.
