This holiday season, you can take the little ones in your life to visit two of their favorite things—Santa and zoo animals—at the Louisville Zoo's Santa Safari.
This annual holiday event turns the Louisville Zoo’s Gheens Room into a winter wonderland where kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, sing with Frosty the Snowman, and make crafts with Santa's elves.
Sessions begin at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. During their sessions, kids get to sit on Santa's lap and share their wish lists. All kids will receive a complimentary photo of their visit with Santa. Also expect a visit from Mrs. Claus, who is sure to deliver milk, coffee and cookies.
When singing with Frosty the Snowman, snacking with Mrs. Claus and crafting with the elves gets old, take a tour of the zoo's heated buildings to visit the animals. Every guest will receive a passport that will guide you to the stations where there's an opportunity for one-on-one interactions with zoo animals and educators.
The session ends in the MetaZoo Education Center with hot cocoa and a reading of a popular holiday story. However, the fun doesn't have to stop there. Each ticket comes with free all-day admission to the Louisville Zoo, so if you can brave the potentially-bitter weather, you can spend the rest of the day visiting your favorite zoo animals.
HelloLouisville Tip: Louisville Zoo members get a 30 percent discount on each admission ticket. Buy a membership for your family now and enjoy free admission to the zoo through December 2011.
