It’s that time of year again–time for the Carl Casper's car show. Time for deep voiced-radio ads touting the exciting events and Miss Auto Show contest. Time for hordes of classic cars, jumping low-riders and tricked-out dragsters to descend upon Louisville. Time for some serious four-wheeled fun, so mark your calendar for the Carl Casper car show on February 25-27.
The Carl Casper car show, now in its 49th consecutive year, brings more than 750,000 square-feet of cars, car exhibits, car accessories, car girls and car events. Yes, it’s a big event for gear-heads and car fanatics, but it’s also a really fun time for anyone just looking for something different to do on the weekend.
For the uninitiated, these aren’t your everyday parking lot cars. There are custom cars that you won’t find anywhere else, model cars (meaning someone, not an assembly line, built it themselves), muscle cars (think Greased Lightning), brand new cars that aren’t available on the lots yet, new eco-friendly cars, famous cars (such as the General Lee, K.I.T.T. and the Batmobile), antique cars, and other just flat out bizarre cars that you won’t want to miss.
So plan to be there the whole day, wear comfortable shoes, and grab a map as soon as you walk in the door.
There are more attractions and events than there’s room to list, so make sure to check the website for an updated list of exhibits and events before you go. A few highlights include the ever-popular Miss Auto Show USA model contest, with a combined $1,500 in cash prizes; the Low Rider Nationals show, featuring cars that can do more tricks than a pony; celebrity autographs (celebs are still to be named); and Hero’s Day (Sunday), when all military, police and firefighters in uniform with proper ID receive free admission.
