Fans of the legendary rock band Queen have the chance to relive the band’s classic music in a live event at the Louisville Palace Theatre. On Saturday, April 30, the Louisville Orchestra will present “The Music of Queen: A Rock Symphony.”
Bridging the gulf between rock-and-roll and classical music, the Louisville Orchestra will be part of the show, amplified by a full rock band.
The show features Windborne Music, the same group that performed “The Music of Led Zeppelin” and “The Music of the Eagles.” Creator Brent Havens will guest conduct the orchestra, and Las Vegas star Brody Dolyniuk will fill in for Queen’s famed frontman Freddie Mercury.
Expect to hear songs such as "We Will Rock You," “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Somebody to Love.” The concert will feature music from albums Classic Queen, A Night at the Opera, Sheer Heart Attack, Jazz, News of the World, A Kind of Magic and The Works.
Audience members may be surprised by the “symphonic rock hybrid,” according to Heather O’Mara, media relations manager for the Louisville Orchestra.
"It's more like a rock show with a full symphony orchestra rather than an orchestra doing contemporary music," O'Mara explained.
Energetic performers, fun music and the familiarity of the songs make the show an engaging, one-of-a-kind experience, she added.
