Lost in the woods with no trail home, Hansel and Gretel become trapped in the delicious hous of a witch set on teaching them a lesson.
Based on the beloved Grimm Brothers’ fairytale, composer Engelbert Humperdinck’s version first took stage in 1893. More than 100 years later it still holds its appeal.
A production of debuts led by General Director David Roth, Kentucky Opera welcomes conductor Steven White, leading the full Louisville Orchestra, and artists Leah Wool and Anya Matanovic to close out the Brown-Forman 2009 Fall Season. We delight in the return of Victoria Livengood, who joined Kentucky Opera 20 years ago for the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta THE YEOMEN OF THE GUARD.
