MSD Project Creating A 'Greener' Belvedere

The Belvedere in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, is undergoing an "extreme green makeover." A $200,000 Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) project now in progress is adding features that not only will make the Belvedere greener with plants, but also more environmentally friendly, or "greener," as well.

Stroke Awareness Day Health Fair at Jefferson Mall May 21

May is Stroke Awareness Month, and the Kentucky and Southern Indiana Stroke Association (KSISA) is holding a Stroke Awareness Day Health Fair on May 21, 2011, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Jefferson Mall. The fair is free and will include stroke risk assessments by Norton Healthcare as well as presentations, door prizes and giveaways.

Mayor Announces Plan to Save Historic Whiskey Row Buildings

Mayor Greg Fischer announced on May 11, 2011, that Whiskey Row, the 100 block of West Main Street, will not face the wrecking ball anytime soon. Plans for an investment group headed by Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown to purchase the buildings from current owner Todd Blue for a total of $4.85 million will save five of the seven buildings, and preserve all of the buildings' façades.
