Double K Recording Studio
Kenny Marine had been in many different bands and had the idea of starting a recording studio for a long time. At the time he was working at Mom's Music on Frankfort Ave, while learning a great deal about recording and engineering, he took his skills and applied them to his love for music. Double K Recording Studio was born in early 1998. Kathy Yates helped with financing gear and other expenses. Without her a lot of what Double K Recording Studio is today would not have been possible.
Double K started out small with only twelve tracks of digital recording at $25 an hour. We started out recording anything, and we do mean anything. As time went on we started to get noticed. We slowly got local bands to come in, and even offered the first hour free as a business ploy. It worked and we had steady work up until September 11, 2001. Things surely changed after that day. It took Double K about four months to recover. Business was very hit and miss, but just like America we bounced back.
We started recording full length albums in 2002 as well as moving from our original location in southern Jefferson county to our present day location in down town Louisville. We put an album on our record label Double K Records by "The Crazy Brass Smackers" in 2003. It had some success and rave reviews. During this time Double K had upgraded to thirty two tracks of digital recording as well as a lot gear we use in the studio, and raised our rates to $35 an hour.
2004 was one of our most profitable years in business. We owe a debt of gratitude to all of our customers who have helped us to get to this point. We are still a thirty two track digital recording studio with many new techniques that we have found to work for us. We have raised our rates to $45 an hour. Inflation....it sucks. We still stick to our guns.....we're not happy until you are. We don't want you to leave until you are completely happy with your project. Even if you do leave....come back and well fix it no charge.
In 2006 I released my first solo album "Kenny Marine LOST". It was a joint effort between Double K Records, and Lavish Records here in Louisville. I have recorded and worked with many artists that are on Lavish Records. I am currently recording my second album "2nd Attempt At Fame".
We hope to make 2007 an even better year, and to serve our customers they way they deserve.

Double K Recording Studio is a fully digital recording studio in Louisville KY that boasts use of Pro Tools, Sony Acid Pro 6.0, and Adobe Audition 3.0 software. We have been in business since 1998 and continue to grow.>
Double K has recorded with several local artists and is in good standing with the local music scene. We have several projects in the works for 2009. First and foremost is a new flash webite that should be up and running in February. There are several artist projects that currently in the works. Parade of Horribles are recording their debut album for release in 2009, as well as Kenny Marine's follow up album "2nd Attempt at Fame". Also scheduled for release in 2009.>
