Captain’s Quarters Louisville: Not Just for Summer

Captain’s Quarters Louisville, a legendary waterfront eatery, is known throughout the region for its sprawling decks overlooking the Ohio River and dockside service for boaters. But Captain's Quarters Louisville is not just a summer destination.
While the outdoor version of Captain’s Quarters may feel like a Nantucket summer retreat, the indoor dining room evokes the cozier feel of a mountain lodge. When the weather turns colder, diners can enjoy the beautiful river views while nestled near the huge stone hearth and warm fire.
The restaurant boasts some of the best cold weather comfort food that Louisville has to offer. For starters, the New England clam chowder is exceptional. Huge chunks of seafood and potatoes float in a creamy stew that has been known to warm diners all the way down to their toes.
For dinner, try the rich and cheesy Hot Brown, a local specialty; beef tenderloin medallions with red wine peppercorn sauce served with white cheddar smashed potatoes; or Tandoori-style rotisserie chicken served with a cucumber mint yogurt sauce and a sautéed lentil and onion side dish. Of course, some of the summer favorites also stick around for the winter crowd. The fried banana pepper appetizer is quite tasty, the Cobb salad is both fresh and generous, and the spicy fish tacos are delicious.
The Sunday brunch draws a huge crowd, so make sure to call or visit the website to make reservations. The expansive buffet includes made-to-order omelets, waffles, eggs, roast beef, salad and a bevy of other fresh items.
For diners looking for some lively entertainment, the Saloon serves up live performances by local bands every Friday night from 8 pm to midnight, and is usually packed from happy hour on.
HelloLouisville Tip: Captain’s Quarters can also host special events and wedding receptions, both indoor and outdoor, as well as aboard the private CQ Princess yacht, which accommodates 110 guests for lunch or dinner and 139 for cocktail parties.
