St. Helen Elementary School Reviews

Although the elementary school closed in 2004, St. Helen has not only managed to keep its Pre-Kn program open, it has expanded it. They now have programs for 3 year-olds as well as 4 year-olds. Both my children attended the 4 year-old program, my son in 2004 and my daughter in 2006. The pre-Kn program taught my children to read simple sight words, basic math skills and spelling. They were more than ready to start kindergarten when leaving this program. But, for me, the most important part of the program is the fun, loving and nurturing environment. All the teachers were motivating and the children just beam in their presence. My daughter, currently in 2nd grade, still pines for Ms. Haines. And their shows are something to see!

I graduated in 1996. My years at St. Helen were one of my greatest experiences in a school. Though my class had only 19 students I enjoyed every year I was there. Even now when I go to the Fish Fry the teachers are welcoming and remember me. Even when I am not there my parents are frequently asked from my former teachers, even my 5th grade teacher. Father Tom is also one of the best priests that I have had the pleasure of knowing. I am glad that I had the previledge of going to St. Helen and I am very sad to see it close.
