“I am very pleased with St. Bernard. I have 2 children there and they have gone there since 3 yo pre school. One is graduating the other will be an eigth grader. They have learned so much there. Highlights, AR reading program, teachers are top notch and the principle is very approachable and available. Father Bob is great with the kids, has a business sense and is very dedicated. They know my children. I always feel comfortable there. Every year, the teachers reinforce the values and expectations I have for my children as Christians. “I am very dissatissfied with St. Bernard. Fred Klausing, the principal, seems very unprofessional and irresponsible. The teachers are extreamly rude. The kids are allowed to just roam all over the school, and most of the time the doors of the school are unlocked and wide open. This school is definitly not worth the money. I would suggest that you don't send your kids here.”

“I absolutely love St. Bernard. My husband and I moved our family from the St. Matthews area once I toured and spent some time in the school because we knew we wanted our child to grow up a s a part of the St. Bernard Family. That is exactly what it is...a family. Through both the Peace Builder and Step by Step Stewardship my children arelearning Catholic Faith values and respect and love for all people. Their academic program is excellent with high expectations at all grade levels. There are many programs and activities offered to the children at St. Bernard such as youth choir, band, art club, academic teams, and much much more. The teachers and staff are warm and welcoming and are always willing to help children and parents whenever needed. I highly recommend St. Bernard to anyone looking for a school for their child!”

“My two children currently attend St. Bernard and I couldn't imagine sending them off every morning to a better place to learn to become a well educated, well rounded, caring young adult. One of the most appealling things to me as we searched out a parish home for our family 6 years ago was the size of St. Bernard. It falls nicely into the not too big, not too small category. The school is large enough to sustain great programs inside & outside the classroom, yet small enough to foster a community atmosphere. The faculty and staff is amazing and is evident in the extremely low turnover rate of teachers- once they are at St. Bernard they stay! Oh- and another thing I love about St. Bernard are the facilities, an amazing new outdoor sports complex, a great school & seperate middle school building too! If interested you should definitely visit!”

“I had two children at St. Bernard and I would like to warn parents about some things before they enroll their kids. First, there are many expectations that are not spelled out in the beginning. Bingo, committments, etc. Not until they get your money and you sign the paperwork are these things spelled out. Not that doing these things is bad they have a good purpose but I felt blindsighted into them. I too think the homework especially in 4th grade is excessive. Much of it is busy work and does not seem to have academic value. St. Bernard seemed safe because of the location and tight nit community but the doors are often open when I go up particularly on mass days allowing anyone to walk in.”

“My son attends St. Bernard and I can honestly say that this school has many positive qualities. I have never worried about my son's safety and the staff and teachers are very caring. St. Bernard also has a wonderful program called Step by Step Student Stewardship. It was pioneered at St. Patrick but is also in full swing at St. B. The program allows students to serve the community and those in need by providing age appropriate stewardship experiences. It really is a great program for fostering service of others. The curriculum is very traditional and homework, in our experience, is not excessive. There are lots of different sports programs, we are hoping that eventually they add a foreign language program. The school families I have met are very friendly and willing to help out when asked. I am very pleased with St. B, please come by for a visit.”

“During the time my children have been at St. Bernard I have seen some things that make me wonder about the safety there. This really concerns me as a parent about my childs safety. The main reason I chose this quiet school. The dismissal process also seems dangerous. Some of the teachers are thorogh in who they dismiss kids too but others are not. Academically it seems that St. Bernard has a great system. Many of the kids are quite talented and exceed rather well. The amount of homework is excessive. The school lacks in the Fine Arts dept, particularly in music. Sports are a great and relished part of St. Bernard.”

“St Bernard is a great place to learn, grow and experience a number of expereiences. The teachers and faculty is excellent and really care. The students have families within the schools which keeps the students close. The school has excellent sports programs (AKA Brian Brohm). The PTO supports the schools in so many avenues such as microphones in the classrooms and new computers. I highly recommend anyone looking for a school to check out St Bernard's - you will not regret the decision.”
