Johnson Traditional Middle School Reviews

I am a graduate at Johnson and would like to put forward that Johnson is a very strict school. To me I personally think that they care more about the dresscode than our education. I believe that we need more principal leadership. The teachers are great. The gym teachers are super funny and you get to exercise. I think the safety and disclipine are too strict. The lunches are disgusting and cost too much. I didn't feel that everyone got the chance to have what extracricular activites they wanted. As being apart of the basketball team and the softball team we didn't get any recongition for being on the team.Dring the softball season we didn't have much support. But otherwise Johnson is a good school. I think we could use a little more parent involment. thanks

Yes i am a student of johnson midle and i think that it is wonderful for kids to attend there!after all u do get a good high school choice if u attend johnson!

I think Johnson is a wonderful school but, I do agree they are too concerned about nit picking at stuff. They were too worried about my child's hair not being cut above the ear. Other then that and the amount of homework, I would recommend this school. They have the best teachers that really care and take the time to inform you of what's going on.

Basically, the kids are getting a decent education, but I don't understand why they don't teach Spelling and have Spelling tests? Spelling is so essential and it's just as important as math - why don't they get that? All kids should have PE everyday, but they don't. Also, the lunches are horrible! And, it appears that girls are favored in this school, and that's wrong! And the petty nit-picking on some issues has gotten out of control. If the staff would put as much into the students' education and well-being, instead of the little, petty things, our kids would be much better off. And, the school needs to be cleaned and better kept.

I graduated from Johnson in 2001 and it was not such a bad school...it was better than most schools I had been to in Jefferson County. The teachers....some teachers really care about the students and want them to do well not only in school but in life as well. The school provied strict rules on fighting on the buses and in the school building. Also the criteria that is being taught by the teachers are pretty good providing a head start for the students as the go on to high school.

The school is very old and looks it. The location is less than desirable. However I believe the education that my daughter is receiving outweighs the look. However I have had issues where I have had to have Principal involvement and the lack of support from the Principal has been sad. I have been to the school on several occasions for different functions, attended several activities with student involvement and have not yet seen support from the Principal, I have seen several other administrative staff. There just seems to be lack of support from the principal. I would not send my child to any other middle school because of the teachers and counselors they have been nothing but wonderful.

I am a 8th grader at Johnson. I believe that this school is horrible. The principal is not involved in any aspect of student life. The only highlights of this school are the wonderful teachers and the music program. The teachers are there for students when they are needed. they will talk about problems and they handle problems very well. The band and orchistra probram at Johnson is award wining. We have compeated in many festivals. In the past three years we have recived many awards. Overall I would not advise anyone to attend this school.

Johnson is a very old school and could use some cosmetic updates. However, I will gladly sacrifice symbolism for substance. I appreciate the fact my child is receiving a wonderful education at Johnson. My daughter had to get up at 5:30 every morning to catch the bus for her 25 + mile journey. My only complaints are that every school is not 'Traditional', and the schools in my neighborhood are awful.

The school needs some major remodeling, in my opinion - it looks very run down. I'd like to see safety issues addressed in a better way. The students are given way too much homework most of the time - over the legal limit at times. There are good points to the school as well - I believe the kids are learning what they need to learn, even if it's harder than other schools, I consider it beneficial to the kids.
